SriLankan Airlines adopts Amadeus Altéa IT Suite

SriLankan 305px 13 02 08 SriLankan Airlines has decided to modernize its IT process by migrating to Altéa suite provided by leading technology provider for the global travel industry - Amadeus.
The decision of SriLankan Airlines to partner with Amadeus was announced at a media event held in Colombo yesterday (Feb. 07).
The 10 year agreement will see the national carrier and its sister airline, Mihin Lanka adopt the Amadeus Altéa suite in order to manage its mission-critical reservations, ticketing, inventory and departure control processes.
The deal, which is the first of its kind for Amadeus in the Indian subcontinent, will see the national carrier completely migrating to the Altea suite by the year 2014.
First phase of the migration which will completed by the end of this year would cover the reservations, inventory and ticketing modules.
Meanwhile, departure controls in airports would be covered by the first quarter of 2014.
Kapila Chandrasena, Director/Chief Executive Officer, SriLankan Airlines said that The Altéa suite will truly modernize the IT processes of Srilankan airlines, enabling them to be a more ‘customer-centric’ carrier.
David Brett, President Amadeus Asia Pacific, says: “Amadeus’ strategic direction is to provide the solutions airlines require to meet the current and future requirements of an increasingly discerning and demanding traveling public.”
Making a presentation on the advantages of migrating to Altéa suite, John Chapman, Vice President of the Amadeus Airline Group for Asia Pacific elaborated how Sri Lanka Airlines will be able to benefit from the migration and be able to provide seamless travel facilities.
Mr. Kapila Chandrasena and Mr. David Brett exchanged documents pertaining to the partnership.
SriLankan Airlines - the national airline of Sri Lanka, is the largest to serve neighboring Maldives, and has a significant presence in South Asia. SriLankan operates a fleet of Airbus aircraft fitted with flatbed seats in Business Class and the latest inflight entertainment systems. On average, it carries 4 million passengers a year between its Colombo hub and 62 destinations in 34 countries.
Amadeus is a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry.
Customer groups include travel providers (e.g. airlines, hotels, rail and ferry operators, etc.), travel sellers (travel agencies and websites), and travel buyers (corporations and travel management companies).
Amadeus’ Altéa suite is used by over 120 airlines globally.
