5 Steps To Getting Better Ink

By Frank Weeden

Since the recent economic downturn, people have learned the importance of saving money at every chance they get. Very often, doing things like clipping coupons and cutting back on waste or energy consumption will save a dollar here and some cents there, which can make a huge difference for many people. Especially for businesses or people that do a lot of heavy duty printing, small things like saving on paper and ink cartridges always makes a significant impact. Though others may try to convince you otherwise, it really only takes a couple basic steps to save a considerable amount of money on your ink cartridges.

The key to saving money on ink cartridges is longevity, maximizing the usage you get from each cartridge. At the onset, it is better to purchase higher quality ink cartridges than cheap brands. The reason for this is that they are more reliable, the print quality is usually better, and they tend to last longer. If you decide to refill and use them multiple times, higher quality ink cartridges will also be more likely to hold up longer, being constructed more solidly.

Though it might seem counterintuitive, you can actually save money by buying ink cartridges in bulk. When buying in bulk, buying so many cartridges at one time ends up saving you more for each than had you bought that many individually. By this, productivity is not lost and additional money is saved in not having to either travel to or receive extra deliveries from the office supply store. Furthermore, if you buy longer lasting ink cartridges in bulk, you should only have to make new purchases every once in a while.

Once again, the bottom line when it comes to saving on ink cartridges is to extend the life of each one you buy. Refilling your ink cartridges with one of the many tools and devices on the market is one of the best ways of prolonging their use. You will probably get even more refills and longer uses when you refill better quality ink cartridges. If you already buy your ink cartridges in bulk, you could refill all of them or even rotate between new and refilled cartridges.

It is important to remember that most ink cartridges are designed for single uses, not to be refilled or remanufactured. So, even as they will function perfectly well for a long time through many uses, it is always best to just be mindful that possible weaknesses or other issues with the reused cartridge could arise. It may also be a good idea to look at your ink cartridge choices in regard to your particular printers and copiers, so you can find the most optimal combination to maximize usage. You should really take the time to do as much research as you can, so you can see many angles to saving money on ink cartridges.
