How to be a ski instructor

By George Dodson

Winter and Fall mean the change in seasons when the weather gets colder, trees lose their leaves, and people engage in winter sports. As per numbers around 10 to 12 percent of people in the United States go out for trying snowboarding and skiing. For some it is their first time and they need some instruction. If you are a good skier then you have the opportunity to become a ski coach.

How can we get a job as a ski instructor? The first question you should ask yourself what is what is my budget. How much should I spend to get a job of a ski instructor? The information can be collected from the internet but the question is do I need to travel? How far away will I have to travel for interviews, etc? How much do I need to spend for my resume? How much more money needs to be spent for the season? Most instructors spend up to and that 150 days on the slopes and many hours helping people. You can take the best decision by asking yourself all these questions.

The second question is to decide where you want to go? Do I want to stay in country I'm in, or go somewhere else, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, or Europe?

Third, get some opinions from others you know and trust, about where to look, who to contact, how they got their job, etc. In most cases, they have had tons of experience and can share that with you. You can take the correct decision by eliminating sources that really don't go well for you.

Getting a ski instructor's certification will also be great. These would surely increase your chances of getting a job. Look for places in the internet from where you can get official recognition. Some of the most popular institutions like PSIA, BASI, or CSIA generally are of great help.

If you love skiing, and have what it takes to do the work, taking advantage of these few skiing tips will help you to find a job as a ski instructor. Before you know it, you will be on the slopes again not only doing what you love, but getting the pay that goes along with it.
