Use Initial Pillows To Personalize Your Space

By Teri Farley

Dressing a room is always a brilliant way of bringing in your own style and placing your stamp in your home. Using initial pillows is a great way or personalizing a space and bringing the whole room together. There are other ways of dressing a room too. Here are some great tips for you to use.

Be careful when you pick the palette you wish to use. Perhaps the easiest way to make sure you avoid selecting colors that clash is by using a color wheel. If you remember to choose tones and shades that are next to one another or opposite one another you cannot go wrong.

Often bold colors are picked to add some extra design but use them carefully. It is not sensible to use them on the walls as they can become over powering. If you have a bright color add it in the room in the form of furnishings and accessories. You can pick bold initial pillows, sheets or curtains for a dramatic effect that will not be too much on the eye.

To add some extra warmth into the room you should invest in a lot of soft furnishings. Do not pick cushions, throws and rugs that are all the same colors. You must add texture to create a stunning room so pick different types of materials and different patterns for a dramatic, luxurious feeling. The room will be a lot more comfortable and interesting to spend time in.

If you are decorating a bedroom spend a large amount of your budget on dressing the bed. The bed is the main focal point in any bedroom and you want it to look glamorous and inviting. Spend out on quality sheets, a decent through and plenty of pillows. This is a great place to use initial pillows as they can customize any room and make it feel a lot more personal.

Flooring is important too. Rugs need to be placed by the side of the bed and by the space where you get ready. The rugs are more important if you have a wooden floor as the room can feel cold.

Children's rooms should be fun and playful yet calming. You want the children to be able to relax and unwind at the end of the day as this can promote a better nights sleep. Avoid using many lively colors such as yellows and choose calmer shades of blue or pale lilacs. These colors are relaxing and attractive and they are perfect for young children.

Some of your decorating budget should be assigned to the finishing touches. Choose pretty frames, mirrors and select some art work for the walls. Adding a lot of soft furnishings will help the room come together, tie in all the different colors and make the space feel very rich even if the pieces did not cost a lot of money.

When the space has been finished make sure that you keep it clean and tidy. A cluttered space will not feel as pleasant and it can make you feel stressed rather than relaxed. Put your special pieces on display but resist overcrowding the sides and surfaces. That way you will be surrounded by items that you love, like your initial pillows, without feeling that the room is messy.
