Autos best for the seaside

By Jeff Smith

If you grew up near the ocean, you are probably aware of the many benefits of being that close to the water. The shorelines of California have surfing options all around. You can also opt to perform other activities such as dip net fishing, digging for clams, or frolicking in the surf. If you've ever spent any time near the coast, this is apparent.

You can also choose to drive while on the beach. One needs to place a few factors into consideration while opting to do this. The beach is composed mostly of sand, so whatever vehicle you choose must be able to handle that condition.

One should be aware that there are lots of people on the beach. You should be aware of this if intending to take a drive through the beach. You have to be extra careful as the beach does not have stop signs and traffic lights.

What are the various beach cars?

Additional on driving on the beach, you need to drive to get there. This means that you get your surfboards, sail boards, and everything you need in order to have fun at the beach.

Keep in mind that the beach features sand and therefore you will be tackling it when you get there. The car you take with you has to withstand this condition. For this reason, the family sedan with a fine carpeting is probably not the best vehicle to have to take to the beach.

You might consider pulling up on the beach before driving straight through it. Large cars with big tires handle this situation better than smaller cars.

You might want to go with something else if your car has a low ground clearance. If the car gets stuck In the sand, you will not have enough room to pull it out. Find a car that is a bit off the ground if you are looking to get through the beach.

Though it might not be your choose, consider getting something like a jeep Land Rover. They have several features including good ground clearance, four wheel drive and also large tires. Having this makes it less likely for you to get stuck in the sand. Your car can tip off if you do not make your turns right due to their high center of gravity.

You also need to consider the number of people that you will be taking into your car. Having a family of six makes it unwise to take a two-seater. If you want to have a lot of fun at the beach with your large family, you need the space for your equipment. I'm sure those family members don't want to hold that stuff on their laps. Large trunk, and perhaps a luggage rack might serve well on the car you're considering for the beach.
