Bathroom Makeover For Smaller Spaces

By Melissa Wilson

Beginning a bathroom makeover can be a daunting task. To avoid becoming overwhelmed the individual should think about the space that they are working with, as well as what type of improvement that they would like to see made. Additionally, individuals should consider working within a budget to ensure that they do not overspend.

The first thing to consider is money. Once the individual knows how much they are willing to spend it will become easier to design the project around the budget. Secondly, consider what type of improvement is sought. A person will need to think about whether they want small adjustments or an overhaul of the entire area.

Individuals who are remodeling a small room will want to consider keeping walls light and neutral, as darker shades will only make the room appear smaller. Whites and lighter shades of gray will lend a touch of elegance to the area.

Once a person has decided on the color of the walls they will want to consider flooring. Especially in smaller spaces it is important that the floor compliment the wall color. A lighter floor will make the room appear larger. Choosing larger tiles will make the space appear larger than its actual size. Smaller tiles might make the room feel choppy.

To give the illusion of grandeur consider adding mirrors to a wall. Mirrors are not only functional, but the reflection will help the space to appear bigger. Lighting is also something to consider. Adding sconces and soft lighting to all the corners of the bathroom instead of overhead fluorescent bulbs will add serenity to the room.

When considering a bathroom makeover for a smaller room individuals will want to first consider their overall vision for the space. Secondly they should create a budget so that they are less likely to overspend. To make the room appear larger it is important to keep colors neutral and lighting soft.
