Some Benefits Of Buying Organic Clothes

By David Green

Regardless of our understanding of the negative impact that a modern lifestyle can have our planet, deciding to follow green activities is occasionally difficult to do. And yet, a growing number of individuals and workplaces are making efforts to go green. For instance, solar energy is becoming more easy to adopt. Taking a cue from them, there are a lot of other things that the rest of the people can start doing to support the environment. One of those things is to choose organic clothing.

Maybe you are familiar with the idea of organic produce, but you might well not be so exposed to organic clothing. What makes something organic? If we think about organic crops, we mean the ones that don't add artificial chemicals to the soil and water. This helps encourage biodiversity within nature.

Traditionally grown cotton is the most common textile, and regrettably it's also the crop with the single largest negative impact on the ecosystem. Are you aware that 25% of all pesticides are used on cotton crops?

Organic cotton, on the other hand, is produced without using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Rather, the cotton grows through natural means. More organic materials such as soy and bamboo are also eco friendly natural fibers for organic clothing.

One big benefit of organic clothing should be that it is very mild on your skin. Due to the fact that the fibers don't contain residue of dangerous chemicals, they shouldn't cause skin allergies. Furthermore, clothing made from bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial.

If we choose organic clothing, we cut down on the concentration of chemical pollutants getting into the soil and water. Conventional farm practices cause unimaginable amounts of chemicals to penetrate the land and spread out to our water. That is a large source of health complications in these times. But when we select organic apparel, we are encouraging the efforts of organic farming practices which don't hurt the ecosystem.

Many organic clothing fabrics such as hemp and bamboo are extremely durable. They hold up to many wash cycles and last longer than clothing from ordinary fabrics.

Each time we decide to buy eco friendly apparel, we are improving the lives of all the workers who grow clothing fiber crops. Their communities and families are safe from an exposure to a toxic influx of chemicals that can result from large scale agricultural practices.

As you think about all these advantages, it seems only natural that greater numbers of clothing manufacturers are switching over to putting out organic clothing.
