The Parts Of A Structural Web Design

By Tamra Ferrell

For every structural web page, you will see different elements that will work together to bring up the whole. Websites do have to be backed up with substantial content, yet they need to look interesting enough to hold the attention of the readers. This is where proper planning and execution comes in.

Structure is all about the skeletal framework that holds everything together. This is where the placement of the details will be based on. For you to understand some of the parts that make up the whole, these are the classifications of the content of a site.

The header can be literally interpreted as that bar that you see on top of the page that spreads across the width. It is commonly the place in which the name of the site will be found as well as the supporting tag line. Whichever page you may be linked to, the same header will appear all throughout.

Meanwhile, sites always contain a search box to aid in easy browsing when people want to be directed to a specific topic or section. This is also found near the header so that it will be conveniently seen upon first look. Together, these two occupy the top end and is always found in their strategic locations.

Also, you may notice the links that can be found frequently on the sides. They can be the links that will lead you to featured posts, the most popular ones or those that are already categorized per section. At the same time, you can also navigate through the archives by clicking on the links instead as to the month you want to check out.

Then there is the content which you see below the standard designs for websites, the banner included. Ideally, after all the browsing through the details, the readers should be able to effortlessly focus on the content itself. It makes up the entirety of the page and represents the supporting thoughts that make it a whole.

Amidst all the glaring details, what matters more than anything else is the content. This puts all the ideas into context and creates the substance upon which the company should be represented for. Without a good foundation such as informative and interesting information, everything will not be able to live up to the hype.

What you can do though is to figure out the elements and make them complement each aspect of the pages instead. This sense of order will create a harmonious look that is friendly to look at even by first time visitors. Again, the thrust should be not to isolate people but to let them feel that they can readily absorb what is being conveyed to them.

A structural web design is essential in every site because it brings together the elements that would properly disseminate the information readers need about the company. Hiring a good web developer and a competent team will help you achieve your goals. The only thing to remember is that you should weave your concepts with the awareness of the needs of your target market.
