We all have our best friends-some of us have both the human and hound kind. If you have an amazing pet canine wouldn't you love getting a basket of delicious gourmet dog cookies? If your answer is yes then chances are that a good friend with a puppy will appreciate the same gift. Read on to find out more about these special homemade dog treats.

There really is nothing that says I love you better than something that is made from the heart. Sure it takes some of your time and effort to plan them but really-when you hear that happy bark or see the appreciation in your friend's eyes, you will know that it is truly worth it. It doesn't hurt that you can also save a few dollars from doing it right in your own kitchen as well.

Now, is there anything I can do to stand head and shoulders above every other gift? Gift 101 states that you can do this via an excellent presentation. Present the cookies in a decorative tin can, nestled inside a pretty basket, embellished in doggie paraphernalia. Be as creative as you can. Remember, homemade doesn't have to mean cheap and unadorned.

Of course it's good to have a great presentation; but it will be even better if the contents of the present are terrific as well. Make an effort to find a great dog treat recipe. You can find a ton of them in the internet. You have to be knowledgeable on food substances that are bad for the canine. Examples of ingredients you need to stay away from are macadamia nuts, onions, grapes, caffeine and chocolates.

I know what you're thinking-no chocolates does not a gourmet treat make. This may be for humans but our dogs will not know any better. There are many options that are guaranteed to satisfy your pet. Drop a spoonful of peanut butter on the biscuit; or sprinkle some grated cheese over it. You can also chop up dried pieces of apple (without the seeds), mix it with a little cinnamon and serve it to the animal.

The only real problem now is how to keep your human friends away from the scrumptious creations you made for the canine. Most of the yummiest gourmet dog cookies are quite safe to eat, and are actually pretty good. You can research some of our regular recipes but again, take special care in looking over the ingredients. It must be harmless for the canine's consumption.

Lastly, make that batch of cookies extra special by making an effort to decorate it canine style. Maybe you can use cookie molds shaped like a bone; or use a silhouette of a paw print as the cookie shape. Whatever it is, you can be sure it will bring a smile to the appreciative pet owner because of the thought you put into it.

Try it out today! Homemade dog treats are excellent gifts to give not just to your good friend-but to his beloved dog as well. Get to work and make some people and their canine pets happy when you do.
