Dog UTI is a common condition that beleaguered many dogs throughout the world. So what is canine urinary tract infection exactly? To put it plainly, this is when contaminated food and water is ingested by the animal and the bacteria then, infiltrates the system through the bloodstream. When this is not detected early, the harmful organisms will continue to flourish inside and will eventually infect other internal organs and can cause severe health complications.

Yes, it sounds like a bad thing but fortunately, there are ways to prevent and treat them without having to break the bank. Effective home remedies for dogs with urinary tract infections are safe, cost-efficient and more importantly, can be done by almost anybody who knows how. Exercise wisdom and consult the vet first before you undertake any form of treatment. You never know if your pet has a condition that will be worsened when you commence on certain therapies.

So what are these home remedies for dogs with urinary tract infections? Because UTI is caused by dirty food and water, you must make an effort to make his living condition as sanitary as possible. Clean his bedding often and sanitize the area he stays in. Anything that keeps bacteria to a manageable level is a good thing.

Let your dog drink fresh and distilled water as often as he can. Water cleanses his system and flushes out whatever organisms that are trying to overcome him. Escherichia Coli, esterococcus, coagulase, positive straphylococcus, proteus mirabilis, klebsiella, and pseudomonas are the germs that are associated with UTI.

Besides water, apple cider vinegar or any citrus drink will help in eliminating the bacteria found in his body. This is because these highly acidic beverages kill the bacteria found in the urine. Mix in half a tablespoon in his water bowl for a few days and check for improvement in his urinating habits.

This will neutralize the bacteria in his urine. Drop half a teaspoon of this to his water and look for improvements in his urinating practices. The most obvious symptom of UTI is when the canine is dehydrated or is always urinating. This is usually indicative of the beginning stages of some sickness that merits immediate medical attention. Visit the vet for an accurate diagnosis. If urinary tract infection is said to be the cause; then do what needs to be done to cure it.

There are natural tonics that help in effectively curing dog UTI. Examples of these are Cantharis, Uva ursi, Berberis Vulgaris, Staphysagris, Juniper berry and Golden rod. Look them up and ask your vet about it. Be vigilant in the dog's diet and lifestyle; a healthy dog is a goal not far away.
