Dog Food Review - Organic Dog Treats

By Geraldine Dimarco

What is the first thing that comes to mind when somebody says they "went organic"? Health, right? This is because organic usually means that the practitioners of it are using food and products that resemble its natural origin the most-without chemicals added to "enhance" the product's features. It doesn't matter if you are human or hound, the results are the same. The products might be a bit pricier-but it's definitely worth it.

Now, it's not that commercial bags of pet food are bad and you will be a terrible master if you feed this to them-of course not. Several of these commercial pet food brands are of good quality. However, for most pet owners, natural homemade dog treats are still the better alternative because many have attested that their dogs lived longer and enjoyed a better quality of life because of it. So, what makes these organic dog treats worthwhile?

1. A healthy weight maintenance. Dogs that are overweight and obese are more prone to developing particular sicknesses. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that you are vigilant in monitoring his ideal weight. Organic food are chock-full of nutrients. The dog's stomach will also feel fuller in smaller meals. Superfluous ingredients are done away with so excessive weight gain is kept to a bare minimum.

2. Increased vitality. Organic fare of superior quality have the essential vitamins and minerals that pet owners are looking for their dogs. The more natural, the better, and you can expect that this will result in the dog moving at a higher level of energy. This means you can expect him to be more active and healthy-a fun and enjoyable lifestyle ideally shared by pet and master alike.

3. A better-looking over-all appearance. Organic homemade dog treats do not have the artificial colorings, chemicals, preservatives and artificial additives that contribute to skin allergies and infections. You will notice when you put your pet in an organic diet that he will have a shinier, softer coat, clearer eyes and elimination of various skin disorders.

4. Good digestive movement. Excellent quality of natural grains and protein are easy to digest. It is common for the dog to consume less food (as it is also more filling as each bite is densely packed with nutrients) without sacrificing his strength and vigor. Subsequently, he will poop less and his pattern of "doing business" will be more predictable. The stool will also be less rancid (I hear pet owners from all around the world heave a sigh of relief).

5. A heightened autoimmune system. We have said that organic food is readily digested by the dog's body; this also means that the nutrients that these meals carry are absorbed better by his system. When the immune system of the dog is good, there is less possibility of him contracting whatever sickness of infection that comes along.

They say organic is more expensive but really, you will end up saving a lot more in doctor fees and medical bills when you prioritize the animal's health. If anything, organic dog treats are worth trying. When you do you will forget how you ever did without it.
