Three Situations That Is Symptomatic Of Vertigo

By Daniel Storm

If you want to know how vertigo manifests in patients, we can name three specific ones. Let us take this opportunity to study what these symptoms are so we will know more about them. Worth mentioning, at a general level, is the fact that the three manifestations of the disease we are just about to look at tend to interfere with the patient's balance. This loss of balance would mean that the person would not be able to stand straight or even walk properly when an episode takes place.

A normal episode would last for only a few minutes, so this should not be too much of a problem. However, there are some instances when an episode could last more than a few minutes, sometimes even longer. The disease we are focusing on happens to be one of the conditions which give us insights into the workings of our various bodily systems. With this, we will be more able to appreciate the delicacy of our various systems and we will also be able to recognize more easily the effects of a malfunction. That constant sense of movement experienced by some patients is a sure symptom of vertigo. Usually they would feel like they are moving in a circular motion.

It would seem as though they are walking drunk, and no matter how they try to walk one way, they would most likely be going the opposite direction. Aside from dizziness, nausea and vomiting is also a consequence that is usually associated with this condition. Other patients would feel as if they are moving too much and they would not even doubt it. That is how real it seems. It is fortunate that there are many who can actually come to terms with these bouts of dizziness. As a result, they can still get a hold of themselves even when experiencing an attack.

Vertigo could also happen in this manner: the patient would feel that it is the earth or his surroundings that is moving and he is just standing still when, in fact, it is the opposite. The sense of being surrounded by moving objects would make the patient react wildly. His movements would be uncontrolled and erratic at best. It would be nearly impossible to walk in a straight line or stand straight since the patient's balance is completely shot.

It is also the experience of many vertigo patients to feel as though something is spinning round and round in their heads. In this case, the patient doesn't feel as if he or she is moving. There is no sense of moving objects in his environment and his surroundings are not in a whirl. In this case, all the whirling and spinning is taking place simply inside his head. The knee jerk reaction of a person experiencing this symptom for the first time ever would be one of terror and fear, and that is definitely a natural reaction.
