A Metallic Garden Sanctuary Designed Around Metal Garden Stakes

By Teri Farley

Cruising round multi-classed neighborhoods in the suburbs is reminiscent of viewing a nature reserve made up of metal garden stakes. Animals and flowers decorate plots passed which are all dressed up in metallic frames. It is a truly amazing sight to see. Without blending into their surroundings, well structured figures glisten in the sun. Majestic beasts and floral delights catch the eye, demanding one's full attention.

Produced from a high grade metal, these animal and flower silhouettes never fade, are timeless in their attraction and provide decorative and functional use. These ornamental and practical posts have flourished in their design and multi-functionality, attracting many people to adopt them in the sanctuaries of their gardens. Gardeners are able to mark various types of fauna and flora on their stakes and showcase their gardens with great pride.

Whilst driving along, it is going to be extremely difficult not to notice outside features that are positioned so carefully. By positioning posts neatly around structured flower beds, they provide a perfect finish to what can be viewed as a landscaping masterpiece. Plants sunbathe in their beds, seemingly protected by surrounding pickets. The posts stand tall and proud, making a statement about their presence.

Components that make up the stakes are made predominantly out of Zinc alloy. This allows one to write a phrase about plant species within the fence's borders. A permanent marker, resistant to fade and moisture, is used to inscribe information about the encircled flora. Inscriptions appear on the animal shaped zinc plate. It is almost as if these fine structures used to identify the plants also provide them with protection.

Initially, these creations were characterized by two metal legs accompanied by a square or rectangular plate, with which one would write or scribe. These charming and decorative posts are timeless in their appeal and are still employed and appreciated by passive, yet equally passionate gardeners and landscapers today, who understand the simplistic and organized design aesthetic that these old-fashioned strong posts that are designed with a point at an end have to offer.

It is important to note that one's passion for gardening is not defined by the shape of the stake they chose to use. Some gardeners just prefer the overall simplistic design that the original ones offer, this does not mean that they are any less passionate about how theirs looks. Depending on the design, a more plain and simple designed stake may better suit the overall feel that the gardener wishes to create.

Sometimes a skyscraper effect is crafted by varying height and placement of posts adjacent to each other. Metal garden stakes come in varying lengths starting from five inches to as much as twenty inches. The goal is to match heights of plant varieties and heights of posts around them.

A young bed of flowers that has scarcely grown a couple of inches high would be better suited with shorter metal garden stakes as that would suit the aesthetic design. Conversely, a taller and very mature bed of flowers would be well-matched with a longer metal garden posts, complimenting the towering effect. The stake skyscraper effect can add incredible and structured beauty to an existing garden arrangement, if implemented correctly.
