Designer totes are much more than a fashion statement for working women. They are a versatile accessory that allows essential items to be carried while still maintaining a professional look while on the job. Without the flashy design of other types of totes, they remain inconspicuous and less distracting to others.

A professional looking bag is the perfect choice for any job interview. Presentation of one's self is vital, which means well put together attire can be a disaster if the wrong kind of bag is used as an accessory. The first impression can make the difference between you getting the job or someone else. That first impression is usually one of the major factors an interview will consider when doing any hiring. If you look like you threw on the first thing you found that morning, they will remember that too.

Keep the choice of bag small, simple and classic for formal settings. Small bags are still big enough to carry essential grooming materials, money, a phone and maybe car keys. The small size is less noticeable when rested upon the lap where a larger bag would be a distraction. They also eliminate the urge to fill them with unneeded items so that they don't look empty.

Neutral and basic colors are the best choice. Blacks and browns are both classic and can be matched to just about any professional outfit. Other simple colors could also be used, as long as they are coordinated with the clothing being worn. If they aren't, they can catch a lot of attention. Bright colors of any kind should never be used in a professional setting, just like clothing in these colors should never be worn in a professional setting either.

Good supporting structure is another important factor. Basic leather or cloth bags can slouch and crumple, giving a sloppy appearance. A sloppy appearance is a quick way to set a bad first impression during an interview. Before buying, insure any tote being purchased has ribbing or other reinforcement that prevents crumpling.

After you have been through the interview process and officially been fired by the company, keep that same professionalism. Every work day should be met with a well put together outfit and a professional style tote. Appearance, while on the job, is just as important as being able to perform one's job tasks accurately. You should never come in to work with wrinkles or dirt on your clothing. A slouchy appearance is not acceptable in any workplace environment.

A professional looking tote packed with essential grooming items while working is useful for remaining presentable. Before an important meeting, the bag can be taken into the bathroom and the items used to freshen one's appearance. Some possible items inside might include a hair brush and a few makeup items or anything else that might be needed.

Designer totes can be incorporated into any professional wardrobe as long as certain rules are remembered. A professional appearance should be kept at all times, even when choosing which bag to pack. The wrong kind of bag can make an entire outfit look hideous. Remember to keep things small and simple but with a classic appeal.
