Cremation Costs Are Lower Than Those Of A Burial

By Liliana Mills

Death is a part of life that needs adequate consideration, as there are charges involved. The death of a loved one is unfortunate, but the process is made easier if the financial aspects have been arranged prior to the incident. In many cases, people take out insurance that will cover the cost of the funeral, or the cremation costs that are involved. Insurance companies will usually charge a small amount per month for this service.

Before an unfortunate event happens, it is required to discuss how the person would like to be laid to rest. Many people opt for conventional burials, but cremations are becoming popular due to their lower prices, amongst other factors. One may wonder what actually happens to the body during this process.

Those who have opted for cremation are not denied of a ceremony. It can be arranged before the body is cremated. The service can have flowers, speeches from loved ones and a minister, if so desired; all the things that one would find at a normal burial. This occasion is important for friends and relations, because it offers them a chance to say goodbye and remember all the things for which the person was loved.

If the ceremony is held before the body is cremated, the body can be placed in a casket. The casket is usually one of the most expensive items of a funeral, but those designed for cremations can be purchased for much less. They are made only of wood, or even of a stiff cardboard, so that nothing inhibits the burning process. A casket for cremations can even just be hired.

Some people choose not to have a ceremony, and in this case, a casket is not required. The process of creating the cremains can begin. The body is placed into a special chamber that seals once the casket is inside. At high temperatures, the body is incinerated. The cremains of the body are mostly just bone ash, and this is what is presented to loved ones at the end of the process.

The process of cremating the body can be seen if so wished, but papers must be signed to protect the funeral company from liability. Some people may choose to have a service after the incineration process, and this is acceptable too. Finally, the cremains are usually spread over an area that is special in some way to the deceased person.

All charges for funerals or cremations must be taken into account. In regards to cremations, there is not only charges for the basic process, but also for the casket, death certificate, medical examiner's reports, transportation if required and the removal of any prosthesis, pacemaker or mechanical device within the body. The ceremony costs are separate as well.

If all the cremation costs have been considered, and are catered for, the event of a loss will be less stressful. Knowing that you can have a good funeral for someone you love is comforting. Funeral homes or insurance companies can provide further information regarding the charges involved.
