| Many Americans can name at least one very popular Swedish female singer in this world. It is no surprise that the group ABBA turned out to be one of the biggest singing groups all over the world. The group included four artists who were romantically linked together in the early 70's. These four unique individuals were Agnetha Faltskog, Frida Lyngstad, Bjorn Kristian Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. History will always remember these four people as great artists who were able to inspire the world musically. The blonde bombshell of this group was Agnetha Faltskog and she is one lady who knows how to get everyone's attention. She is a native of Sweden and was raised in a very middle class family with no real connections to wealth. Her father was a store manager and her mother was a housewife. Agnetha took many piano lessons and performed with her choir at church during every Sunday service. "The Cambers" was her very first musical group when she was only ten years old. Her group would always get a thrill out of performing for local events around her hometown and people really appreciated their talent. Unfortunately this amazing lady decided to leave school when she was only fifteen years old. This decision was made in order to capture the audience which existed at the present time. Agnetha really looks up to Lesley Gore, Connie Francis and Aretha Franklin when it comes to music. These three women are her true inspiration and she thinks the world of them all. She found that it was very easy to write songs about heartbreak and romance. The sixties proved to be a great year for Faltskog since she met Bjorn Ulvaeus during that time. They shared a true romance and even got married in 1971. Their passion ended in 1979 but they were able to have two children during this very special time. Their breakup did not have a negative effect within the ABBA group. "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was based upon their split. The fabulous Frida Lyngstad was also known as "Frida" to many of her fans everywhere. She was born in Norway but grew up in Sweden and her parents were Norwegian and German. Her father was a very proud German soldier named Alfred Haase and her mother was a Norwegian woman named Synni Lyngstad. Unfortunately her mother died at the early age of twenty-one. Frida's grandmother helped to raise her after this happened. Frida's grandmother was her major role model and she encouraged her granddaughter to pursue a career in music. She has often given her grandmother praise during interviews on television. Lyngstad found herself working with an orchestra at the tender age of thirteen. She would sing many Norwegian songs while this wonderful band played. Later in life she would meet her future husband and fellow ABBA member Benny Andersson. Benny was married to this Swedish female singer for several years before filing for a divorce. The couple was actually together for quite a period of time before marrying. Once ABBA was finished Frida found herself back on stage as a single act. "I Know There's Something Going On" was a big hit song for her in the 80's. | ||
