Information On Toilet Plunger Holder

By Vicki Diaz

A basic or fancier toilet plunger holder can be purchased at supermarkets, and is used to unclog a water closet. It is therefore a plumbing tool that can be used by an average person. It is of a round shape that has a small opening. You also get plungers that are used to unblock a sink, in the kitchen or bathroom, and these have larger openings.

This useful device is not expensive, and is made out of wood and rubber. Wood for the stick and rubber to create suction. A rubber plunger, usually red in color, is the most common one used. They are sold in local stores or in shops that sell home and hardware items.

A good plunger for a water closet is one that fits well into the opening of the area that is blocked. It only has a small hole, and therefore creates strong suction. This pressure that is created will quickly fix any water closet clog.

Another good piston is one that contains compressed gas. The gas of the device is carbon dioxide, and it helps to get the pipes clear. The gas is let out when the piston is placed against the pipe that is blocked. It is also quite fancy because the gas can be let out at different levels of intensity. A stronger burst of gas may be needed for a tougher blockage.

Do not be concerned when you see smoke coming out of the plumbing pipes. The smoke is only caused by the gas, and is not fire or anything harmful. If this is a bit dramatic for you, simply use a conventional plunger. It will also take care of toilets or sinks that are clogged up.

A normal plunger is uncomplicated to use. It should be placed inside the toilet bowl, rubber end first, while you hold onto the stick. The rubber end can be covered with water, it does not matter. The piston should be held upright, with its end on the opening of the water closet that is blocked. For when the job is done, you may need some old towels and a mop for cleaning up, and for hygiene purposes, use a pair of rubber gloves.

Push down quite hard on the stick so that the rubber bends, and then bring the stick up again. Repeat this action so that a vacuum effect is formed. You want to draw out the substances that are clogging the pipes. As the opening clears, the water that filled up the toilet bowl should be allowed to flow out again. If you release the piston and the water does not drain, use the it again.

To clean the water closet once it has been unblocked you can use baking soda and dish washing liquid, or other types of lavatory cleaning products. Brush away any remaining dirt and flush several times. Clean the plunger as well, and place it back in its toilet plunger holder. If your water closet clogs quite often, or if you cannot unblock the toilet yourself, the help of a skilled plumber may be required.
