No matter what you decide to do with your life, there are plenty of professions out there that brings wonderful experiences. For a lot of people their work is simply a daily grind just to pay the bills, although if you want you do not have to put yourself through this. A chef is easily one of the more satisfying jobs you can pursue. If you want to get anywhere as a chef you will need hard work and dedication then heaps of training, it is not the easiest but there is no satisfaction in taking the easy road. This is a very worthwhile profession, there are only a few other career choices out there that offers the same amount of challenges and obstacles to overcome.

The chef's apparel can range from lots of choices of attire, but they usually go traditional. The traditional chef attire has a double breasted jacket, checkered pants, a hat, and a coat. Because of movies and such, the dress of the chef has gone through a major change. Although, the attire is still evolving. Designers are still trying to make chef's apparel trendy and look appealing.

Chef's Apparel: The Important Stuff

First and foremost a chef's uniform must be functional, so not only do designers have to take this in mind but they also have to make it look trendy. Every part on the outfit of the chef serves a purpose. Chef's do not wear those double breasted jackets just to look appealing. The kitchen is full of ovens and the such that create searing heat and this jacket shields the chef from that. Even parts of the jacket we would not even think about like the buttons are designed not to burn.

The coat is most likely the best loved part of the entire attire, chefs even wear it when they do not need it. Not only is it comfortable but without it a chef just does not look like a chef. It can come with 10 to 12 buttons and often called an executive coat. It even has a thermometer pocket which is a very vital part of this job.

The pants is also an important part to the uniform. The checkering on the pants is actually to hide all the stains that a chef will get. A lot of chefs like to wear baggy pants. This is so they can move around without restriction. But the checkered look is still fashionable.

All the remains to the chef's apparel is the puffy hat. Before the hat was a symbol of status. But the hat plays a vital role for any chef. A kitchen can get very hot, so the there is a mesh top on a chef's hat to help keep the chef comfortable. It also stops hair from falling into the food.
