Pay-Per-View Showings & How Accounts Receivable Collections Would Play Out

By Rob Sutter

For those who don't know what accounts receivable collections are, allow me to give you a general overview. These are basically the actions done by collectors in order to receive payments from debtors for goods, whether physical or otherwise. Pay-per-view events seem to fall into the latter and with the prices they are set at, people expect good shows. Sometimes they aren't worth it, though, which is where I can, at least fictitiously, see people hire on agencies in order to collect the money they put in.

Speaking from experience, I can safely that many of the shows I had put down money for did not always live up to the hype. Wrestling events are especially guilty of this these days and when you're talking about pay-per-view events, it's expected that you would come away having watched an excellent program. Shows nowadays seem to suffer from a few problems, though, from shoddy booking to poor quality of matches. This isn't acceptable, especially when shows can become as expensive as sixty dollars a pop.

Pay-per-view movies are going to be the ones which go for premium prices as well and, as stated before, they may not always live up to the words spoken about them. The difference with movies, on the whole, is that it's more about taste than anything else since. Films appeal to certain groups but I don't think anyone can argue the idea that bad movies are going to be bad, no matter what. They are the ones which people would be foolish to drop money upon.

Let's say that someone took the plunge on these kinds of shows and put in money for them; don't you think that they would be upset? It'd be the same as someone going to a video store and purchasing a game, only to bring it back not long after because it did not prove to be the heavy hitter it claimed to be. It may be an opportunity for accounts receivable collections to come into play. I can also see people going to agencies like R.R.S. for the most effective amount of work done.

I don't know about anyone else but I know that I would be anything but happy after paying money for poor shows on pay-per-view. I would be the first one to turn to accounts receivable collections, in the ideal setting, if it means that I would attain the money I put forth to begin with. You could possibly make the argument that the research should have been conducted about these shows before any other actions were taken. When you get down to it, though, companies have to respect the people responsible for making them business.
