If one is interested in adopting a dog, Miniature Schnauzers for sale in Florida may be a good choice. These dogs are lots of fun, get along great with kids, and are very intelligent. However, it's advisable to first find out all the facts about this breed before deciding to adopt a dog of this kind.

This breed originates from Germany and was first developed as a dog trained to catch rats and other vermin on farms, but today it is mainly a companion dog. Its natural abilities include; tracking, hunting, guarding, and competing in obedience and performing tricks. The Schnauzer belongs in the Terrier family.

This dog has a small, sturdy body and normally stands about 1 foot tall or slightly higher and weighs between 10 and 15 pounds. Their fur is a dense double coat which is wiry on top and softer underneath, and they do not shed which makes them a good choice for allergy sufferers. The color of their fur may be all white or all black, or a blend of salt and pepper, or black and silver. Schnauzers have an intelligent-looking and endearing face characterized by a blunt muzzles, black nose, deep-set, dark eyes and its bushy mustache, beard, and eyebrows.

These dogs should be taken for professional grooming every five to eight weeks in order to keep their coats looking nice. Every day they should be combed and brushed using a short wire brush to prevent fur from getting matted. Twice each year the coat will need to be clipped all over, with the top typically trimmed shorter and the bottom left longer. They may need their whiskers wiped after eating.

In terms of training, it is important to make sure the animal has a clear sense that its human master is the one in charge, or else it may refuse to listen and attempt to control its owner; this is referred to as "small dog syndrome". However with proper authority exercised, these pups can learn to obey and are particularly skilled at performing tricks, especially those involving jumping.

This dog is one that can be happy living in a smaller space such as an apartment, as long as it still has enough exercise. These energetic pups need to be taken for a daily walk or run, but must be taught to "heel" to their owners, as to establish the human's command. They enjoy playing games such as those with a ball off the leash as well.

This breed is not highly prone to certain ailments, but there are some diseases owners should know about. Disorders most commonly seen in the Mini Schnauzer include; diabetes, skin disorders, cysts, von Willebrand's disease, eye problems such as retinal dysplasia, liver disease, and bladder and kidney stones. They should not be overfed as they can become overweight. These dogs can live to be as old as 15 years and usually look quite young until their very last years of life.

When considering adopting Miniature Schnauzers for sale in Florida, it should be noted that this breed is generally quite adaptable to a variety of living situations and is therefore a good choice whether one lives in the city or country. They love being in families and should be included in any activities since they thrive on human attention. If there are other pets in the house, these dogs should get along well with them especially if they become accustomed to them from early on.
