Finding the Best and Healthiest Low Carb Diet

Low carbohydrate diets are all the rage. Your body needs a variety of nutrients, including some carbohydrates, so even if weight loss is your goal, don't try to give up carbs completely. While it's a good idea to limit the number of carbs you eat, you should still eat some, while sticking to the healthier varieties. The trick to losing weight isn't to cut out carbohydrates altogether. Carbs from natural, unprocessed sources are best, and even these should be eaten in moderation. A good low carb diet isn't that complicated, so read over the pointers we'll be discussing and start applying them.

For recipes calling for wheat flour, try substituting coconut flour. The processed white flour found in most breads and pastas is an unhealthy carb, and also contains gluten, which many people are sensitive to. You can replace white flour with coconut flour, which is low in carbs and healthier in every respect. Coconuts are a nutritionally dense food that have many uses. Whole coconuts are great when you can get them, as are coconut oil, coconut water and coconut milk. You should take advantage of all the healthy ways you can use coconut, including the flour that can be gotten from it. Do you love cheese? Would it be really difficult to give up, if you had to? The good news is that you won't have to give up cheese if you take on a low carbohydrate diet. Carbohydrates are in a lot of foods, but hardly any can be found when your favorite cheeses are looked into. You should check out the cheese you like to see if is a low carb cheese, or if it is actually free of carbs, before you decide to eat it. When you are eating cheese, you should pick kinds that are not processed, or you will simply be trading carbohydrates for high amounts of oil and fat.

How do you feel about pasta? Perhaps you even dread the idea that you can't eat it anymore. You may have been told that if you're following a low carb diet, pasta has to be eliminated. Luckily, you don't have to give up pasta. You can find many whole grain and gluten free varieties of pasta.

These types of pasta are healthier overall, as they have fewer calories and are easier on your stomach. Pastas made from whole grains or vegetables are getting more popular as people realize how much healthier they are. As you can see, eating a low carb diet doesn't have to mean depriving yourself, just being a little creative and reading ingredients labels.

Eating only food that you prepare yourself is the simplest way to eat fewer carbohydrates. Between going to a drive through or packing a lunch, too often the high carb fast food wins out because it is so much easier. The healthier option, however (particularly for low carb folks) is to cook a little bit extra of a low carb dinner and then take in the leftovers for lunch. The reason so many people are overweight is because of the unhealthy foods that come from a drive through, that are horrible for waistlines, because of the high carbs, so packing a tasty lunch is the way to go. It is not that difficult to consume less carbohydrates, because there are many ways. Changing your diet to low carb is actually not that though. A low carb lifestyle needs a healthy start in order to make continuous progress, so talk to a doctor or qualified nutritionist to get on the right road in the beginning.
